The Math is For Me Program gives your child the foundational skills to approach math with confidence. It combines the most recent research in Play-Based Learning with evidence-based direct instruction to get your child solving math problems at grade level while ALSO having fun! Math is for everyone!

Learning number sense through animal riddles and puzzles!

4-15 year old students identified by their teachers as struggling in math. (This program is especially for students who do not like math!) No formal IEP is required.

Yes! Unlike other math programs or tutoring services, this program is designed to be accessible for students with attention needs who often struggle to engage with learning activities. In our classes, we use interactive activities AND our interests to help us learn math!

For a student who needs a little extra support in learning to become a confident math problem solver, it is understandable that they might have a strong reaction to being asked to solve problems that are above their current skill level and understanding.
In this program your child will be scaffolded/supported in their skill development (using evidence-based math instruction). This means I use your child’s diagnostic assessment and progress monitoring reports to address and remediate the foundational skill gaps that are stopping your child from successfully engaging with grade level material. I tell my students that if they don’t understand the way I am teaching a concept or skill, it is my job to find a different way to teach it! There are hundreds of ways to teach mathematical concepts, and my job is to find the best way for your child. We follow a sequential model in which your child will only be given math problems that they have developed the skills to solve. This leads to high levels of success, skill development and feelings of confidence!
The math activities and games in this program will also be personalized to your child’s interests, leading to higher levels of engagement and motivation than other tutoring services. (Many of my students have even asked to have a class on their birthday!)

The Math is For Me Program can be combined with the Reading Booster Program and/or the I Can Write Program to best support your child’s learning needs. We can discuss the best plan to support your child’s learning during the intake meeting.

Yes! Since 2020, the Math is For Me Program has been delivered virtually and has supported students from all across Canada! The virtual format has allowed families to conveniently connect from home, while innovative virtual design has accelerated both student progress and engagement.
The in-person Math is For Me Program is available for students located in Vancouver, British Columbia.

My approach combines evidence-based direct instruction with the evidence-based practices of Play-Based Learning.
This means my approach is guided by evidence from scientific research about what works in helping students become confident math problem solvers. It’s teaching students mathematical problem solving skills using the best instructional methods available, not the best marketed “math tutoring” available. All classes and material provided are created using evidence-based instructional strategies that target key skills for long-term mathematical success.
